Police have been called to reports of a man with a knife in Poole.
Officers were called at 2.20pm on Saturday to reports of a man seen walking with a knife in the area of Walking Field Lane in Poole.
A description of the man was circulated to officers and a search of the area was carried out.
A vehicle was stopped in Sandbanks Road and a man searched but no trace of a weapon was found. No further police action was taken against the man.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing to locate the man reported to be in possession of a bladed article.
"There have been no reports of any injuries of threats made toward members of the public."
One resident said: "We heard sirens and tyres screeching followed by the police shouting “armed police”.
"There was a police car with dogs in too.
"A majority of the police had guns pointed at a car and they searched the vehicle."
