PUPILS at a school in Bournemouth have created a video to raise awareness of plastic pollution.

Children in year six at Winton Primary School are calling on video fast food takeaways in Bournemouth to stop using plastic packaging and use environmentally friendly materials such as wood, bamboo or paper instead.

In the video, the children can also be seen carrying out a litter pick on the beach at Bournemouth and talking about their findings.

Jonathan Mitchell, specialist computing teacher at Winton Primary School, said: “In class, children were asked to think of an issue that they were concerned about with a view to writing a letter which would persuade someone to 'make a change'.

“It soon became clear that many of the children had a real and genuine concern about plastic pollution, having seen reports on TV and, as Bournemouth residents, having seen the problem first hand at the beach.

“So they made a video to highlight the problem and put it on YouTube.”
