A PROPERTY management company has been appointed to look after security at the closed Toys R Us store sites, including at Nuffield road in Poole.

FI Real Estate Management was appointed to provide asset, property and facilities management at the 31 sites.

Tim Knowles, managing director of FI Real Estate Management, said: “We have welcomed the opportunity and challenge of fully managing this portfolio.

“We have agreed a business plan that allows us to preserve and unlock value without the need to make pressured decisions. There is still life in the UK retail market where there are many high-quality retailers wanting to expand their portfolio into these prime sites.”

The sites, now named the Duke portfolio, was put into “special servicing” by the advisory firm Solutus after Toys R Us went into administration in February.

The portfolio is owned by Toys R Us Properties (UK) Ltd, which has secured debt of £263million. Solutus believes the sites could appeal to out of town retailers or developers.

Cushman and Wakefield, along with Morgan Williams, have been appointed as sales and marketing agents.
