A HOTEL in Bournemouth has been sold for more than £6million.

The Hallmark Hotel Bournemouth West Cliff located in Durley Chine Road has been bought by Brighton-based Motoring and Leisure Services Ltd (MLS) for £6.75m.

Set in a 1.6acre plot, the four-star red brick hotel comprises of 83 en-suite bedrooms, a bar, restaurant and lounge along with five meeting and event rooms.

It also features an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and fitness suite.

The sale was carried out by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, on behalf of the Topland Group.

MLS is a subsidiary of the Civil Services Motoring Association which also runs the Ghyll Manor Hotel and Restaurant in Horsham, West Sussex.

Alex Campbell, director of Christie & Co’s Corporate hotels team, said: “I am delighted to have been part of the sale of such a high-profile business within Bournemouth. The marketing process attracted a significant level of interest from both hotel investors and operators, with numerous offers submitted for the freehold trading going concern.

“The market in Bournemouth for hotels remains robust with demand outstripping supply for good quality, well located, hotel businesses.”

Creamore, of GVA who advised MLS on the purchase, said: “The West Cliff hotel represents a significant investment for MLS. Bournemouth is one of the top leisure destinations on the south coast with a cosmopolitan and cultural town centre that offers a wealth of bars and restaurants.

“Tourism accounts for some 15% of the town’s total economy – or £501 million per annum – and the hotel sector remains a robust yardstick of overall interest.”

Hallmark Hotels is a collection of 27 hotels across the UK, including two at Bournemouth’s East Cliff, with more than 2,600 bedrooms and over 170 meeting rooms.
