THE deadline for residents to have their say on future proposals for a new swimming pool in Poole town centre passes today.

Borough of Poole (BOP) has been asking people to comment on the preferred design on a new leisure centre, as part of on longer term multi-million pound proposal to 'transform the town centre'.

Officials hope the current swimming pool will be redeveloped as part of the scheme.

Residents are able to give their views online up until midday today. (March 21)

BOP culture, learning and leisure portfolio holder Cllr John Challinor said: "The council has already started to deliver an ambitious regeneration programme across the town centre and the revitalised offer includes a new cinema, restaurants and car parking facilities.

"A replacement leisure centre is a key component of the regeneration and will help people lead healthy active lifestyles as well enhancing the vision of the town centre as an attractive place to live and visit.

"I would encourage everyone to give their views and help inform further phases of planning in the coming years."

The results of the consultation will be presented to BOP's cabinet on April 17.
