PARISHIONERS in Wimborne Minster came together for a busy Easter Weekend with a number of traditional services, while the weather got the better of a staple part of the events in the region.

The services began on Maundy Thursday with the Eucharist of the Last Supper and the stripping of the altar, with Rev Canon Robert Titley, Canon Treasurer of Salisbury Cathedral, preaching.

Good Friday opened with sung litany with the Minster choir singing in procession under the direction of director of music David Gostick.

Despite the weather, around 250 people braved the conditions for the Walk of Witness from St John's Church through the streets of Wimborne, which culminated with a short service inside the Minster instead of at Willow Walk because of the rain.

The Three Hour Devotion was led by the Rev Titley, but for the first time in living memory it was not followed by the Bun Walk from the Minster to Pamphill, to find Hot Cross Buns growing on the trees.

Easter Saturday saw activity in the Minster when the team of flower arrangers decorated the church for Easter.

Easter Day began with the Dawn Eucharist at 6.00am followed by breakfast in Church House, followed by the Holy Communion Service and parish Eucharist.

Rev Titley served as preacher at this service, which was attended attended by around 300 people, and the Matins service which followed. The day concluded with Festal Evensong conducted by associate priest Rev Heather Waldsax.
