A BOURNEMOUTH road will be partially closed tonight due to repairs to a burst water main.

Ringwood Road, next to Mountbatten roundabout, will be partially closed from 7pm tonight until lunchtime on Wednesday.

A Bournemouth Water spokesperson said: "Earlier today Bournemouth Water advised of potential disruption to the A348 Ringwood Road, near the Mountbatten roundabout, to allow repair work to a burst water main.

"After further advice from the council’s highways team, the work is expected to finish by lunchtime tomorrow, allowing a permanent road reinstatement to be made.

"In order to keep inconvenience to a minimum, one lane of the southbound carriageway will remain open during the essential works, but the nearside lane and bus bay will be closed.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

"Local residents and the nearby garage have been informed, and the garage will remain open for business.  Water supplies to customers will be unaffected."
