A DRIVER escaped serious injuries after her car overturned during an accident on the Christchurch Bypass at lunchtime.

The female motorist was treated at the scene for shock and assessed by paramedics.

Dorset Police told the Daily Echo she had not sustained serious injuries. The single vehicle collision involved a Renault car that came off the road and rolled into a ditch.

Emergency services were called to the scene, close to Sainsbury’s, around 1pm.

At one point three fire engines, four police cars and two ambulances were at the scene, with one lane closed off heading from Somerford roundabout to the Christchurch Bypass roundabout.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “Crews attended a road traffic collision on the A35 near the Somerford roundabout.

“We were called 1.11pm to report of one vehicle overturned, with passengers still inside.

“Two crews from Christchurch and one from Springbourne attended.”

Any witnesses should contact Dorset Police on 101.
