GET into the Christmas spirit with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s live screening of The Snowman.

Under guest conductor Hugh Brunt, the BSO will put on a festive spectacular on Tuesday, December 19 at Lighthouse, Poole with two performances at 3pm and 7pm.

The programme will also feature a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, narrated by Cbeebies presenter Pui Fan Lee.

Joining the BSO to perform the iconic ‘Walking in the Air’, will be two of the winning soloists, with nine-year-old Oliver Gill performing in the afternoon concert, and 13-year-old Oliver Payne in the evening concert.

The first half of the concert consists of extracts from Tchaikovsky’s famous Christmas ballet The Nutcracker. From the elegant Waltz of the Flowers to the exciting Russian Dance, Tchaikovsky’s score is a feast of wonderful melodies.

Artist Emily Carew Woodward has created some wonderful images to accompany The Nutcracker, which will be projected on a big screen throughout this part of the concert.

Cherished by children and adults alike, The Snowman is the soundtrack to everyone’s Christmas.

Based on the much-loved classic children’s book by Sussex illustrator Raymond Briggs, The Snowman has been delighting generations of children and adults alike each Christmas since it first appeared on screens in December 1982.
