A SERIAL offender with “no respect for society’s laws” has been banned from four Dorset town centres after a campaign of anti-social behaviour spanning almost 20 years.

Darren Amor, who is of no fixed abode, was sentenced to a criminal behaviour order at Poole Magistrates’ Court last month. The order bars him from Poole and Weymouth for five years.

Amor, 43, first came to the attention of Dorset Police in 1999 for criminal damage offences and assaults.

Since then, he has repeatedly been involved in incidents of anti-social behaviour. Many of the incidents have taken place in the streets of Bournemouth, Blandford and Weymouth, as well as at Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Amor verbally and physically abused paramedics and hospital staff when he was in their care. On one occasion he flicked his blood at paramedics.

In 2014 he was issued with a five-year anti-social behaviour order barring him from Ferndown and Wimborne. On that occasion, magistrates heard he was “intimidating”.

Since the start of 2015, Amor has come to police attention around 97 times. He has also been arrested 14 times.

On Monday, July 10, Amor appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court in relation to a charge of criminal damage.

Magistrates then decided to make a criminal behaviour order under section 22 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The order will run until July 10, 2022.

If Amor breaches the order he can be arrested and brought back before the court.

Officers are encouraging members of the public to alert them if they become aware of any potential breaches.

Sergeant Jane Moore, of Weymouth police, said: “Darren Amor’s anti-social behaviour has had an adverse impact on a number of areas of Dorset over the years.

“He has not abided by other orders in the past, which shows he has no respect for society’s laws.

“This order has been obtained following extensive work by police and the Dorset Councils Partnership Community Safety Team.

“It will help us to protect communities across Dorset from Amor’s anti-social behaviour in the future.”
