AN Olly Murs concert in Bournemouth has been cancelled after the event organiser announced they have gone bust.

The show was set to draw thousands of people to Kings Park on Saturday, August 5.

Here's some advice on getting a refund

The pop idol, who rose to fame following his appearance on X Factor, was due to be performing as part of a series of open-air performances being held throughout the summer across the country.

However, organisers of the Bournemouth show, Stephen C Associates, have released a statement on the Olly in the Park website to announce it has been cancelled - and they will be unable to offer refunds.

“We deeply regret to inform you that the company Stephen C Associates Limited has ceased to trade. It is insolvent and is expected to go into liquidation shortly," it says.

“The shows which will be cancelled are: The Olly Murs concerts planned for 29th July, the BSO Last Night of the Proms concert for the 30th July (Powderham Castle, Exeter) and Olly Murs concert on 5th August (Kings Park, Bournemouth) and will now NOT take place. Please do not turn up at either venue for these shows.

“As a result, the company is not in a position to offer you a refund. However, if you bought VIP packages with a credit card, you should contact your credit card company immediately and ask them to refund your money. If you have purchased your tickets through one of the nominated ticket agents you should contact them in the first instance.”

Olly recently told fans how much he was looking forward to playing live in Bournemouth.

Following the news of the cancelled show, he tweeted:

Fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment.

Kerri Phillips, from Bournemouth, had bought tickets for her 13-year-old daughter, Lois, as a birthday present.

“I’m gutted the show’s been cancelled,” she said.

“She really likes his music and was really looking forward to seeing him but that’s been ruined now.

“I paid over £80 for two tickets, and I’m really disappointed I can’t get a refund. I know lots of people who were going too.”

Following a request for comment by the Daily Echo, a spokesperson for Stephen C Associates said: "It is with deep regret that this has happened, we have done our utmost to save these events and this decision has not been taken lightly.

"Everyone who has purchased a ticket will be contacted via their relevant ticket agent. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

More than 10,000 fans were expected to see Olly, whose latest album 24 Hrs was his fourth consecutive number one hit.

The popular singer-songwriter is one of British music’s biggest stars with record sales exceeding 10 million, and demand for Kings Park tickets has been high.

An additional 2,000 tickets to see him were released last month due to popular demand.

His special guest for the concert was 2015 X Factor winner Louisa Johnson.

Stephen C Associates was established six years ago by Stephen McManus, who organised the Upton House Music Festival. This year’s festival attracted the likes of Bryn Terfel, Billy Ocean, Kim Wilde and Toyah.

It had a series of events planned for this year, including the Olly Murs concert and a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra proms concert at Powderham Castle, Exeter.

Mr McManus had said on the company’s website that it would need a bigger office and more staff, announcing “great news for the Dorset economy”.
