JOHN Watkins of Poole has two generations of his family who were Bournemouth Transport Inspectors. His grandfather Leonard Watkins worked on the trams and then the trolleybuses and would have worked with Gwen's father Bill Stride. He was an Inspector when his picture was taken at Christchurch Road, Pokesdown, circa 1920s or 30s. He died in 1954.
Born in 1919 his son Robert was a 'points boy' for the trams at Cemetery Junction. He was an Inspector in the late 1960s and early 70s and eventually became a Chief Inspector in the mid 1970s, retiring in 1979, and died ten years later.
