TWO elderly woman sustained serious injuries following a crash in Broadstone last night.
Lower Blandford Road was closed for nearly two hours after a red Renault Clio, registered to a woman from Poole, collided with a lamppost just before 5.35pm.
Officers shut the road between the Gravel Hill Roundabout and the main high street while emergency services were on the scene, which caused traffic delays as a result.
The car contained two elderly woman, according to Dorset Police, with one person being taken to hospital with serious head and neck injuries and the other person reportedly had a fractured sternum.
Both are not thought to be life-threatening condition. The local authorities were contacted to deal with the damage to the lamppost.
Lower Blandford Road was fully re-opened by 7.20pm.
