Twelve fire crews battled a warehouse fire in Wallisdown in the early hours of Monday morning.

The blaze, which took two hours to put out, was at the Nationwide Accident Repair Centre on Wallisdown Road at 12.30am.

Twelve appliances from Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne, Poole, Christchurch, Hamworthy, Wimborne and Wareham were called the scene in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading.

Eight sets of breathing apparatus and two hoses were used to extinguish the flames. The fire service tweeted that it had been put out by 2.20am.

Dorset Police were also requested to attend to assist with the investigation into the cause of the incident. Nobody was injured.

Police and fire are jointly investigating.

Staff at the branch, which was recently taken over by Nationwide Accident Repair Centre, were unable to comment on the fire. 

A spokesperson for Nationwide Accident Repair Services confirmed that a number of vehicles were damaged as a result of the fire.

They added: "The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and customers of Nationwide are being contacted."
