AFTER wowing crowds at this year’s Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, top duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin will be returning to the area on Sunday, November 6.

Winners of 2014’s BBC Radio Two Folk Award for Best Duo, Phillip and Hannah will be appearing at the Bournemouth Folk Club in the Shelley Theatre.

With a unique sound that spans many genres, the duo have been touring constantly for the past three years, winning new fans of all ages wherever they go.

Festival appearances have included regular Glastonbury slots and all the major folk festivals including that memorable mainstage slot at the Purbeck Valley Folk Festival last summer.

Last year saw Phillip and Hannah release their third studio album, Watershed, described by Hannah as “A time of decision, a moment of change, a turning point. Each of the songs was written with a specific person in mind; I hope they know who they are, and that this is for them, with our love, grief and joy. Except the track Watershed, which was written for everyone.”

It is an exceptional record that marks a huge step forward both in terms of musicality and in the breadth and depth of the material.

Hailing from Lancashire, Phillip Henry is one of the UK’s top slide guitarists and harmonica players, while Hannah Martin is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Devon.

With a packed season of top folk acts, Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin play the Bournemouth Folk Club on November 6 at the Shelley Theatre.
