AN EATERY in Christchurch has been crowned the Seafood Restaurant of the Year
The Jetty collected the prize from Seafish and The Caterer at the Woodford, in London.
The Seafood Restaurant of the Year competition as launched last year and aims to find the best restaurants cooking and serving fish and shellfish while demonstrating responsible sourcing and excellent seafood knowledge.
The Jetty was praised for its extensive menu and its high quality ingredients, with chef patron Alex Aitken praised as a passionate cook who leads by example in responsible sourcing of fish and shellfish.
As well as a trophy, staff at the jetty will enjoy a trip to either Brixham in Devon or Peterhead in the North East to further hone their knowledge of the catching, processing and supply of seafood.
Mel Groundsell, Seafish corporate relations director, said: “It’s inspirational to be amongst such talented seafood ambassadors.”
AJ Aitken, food and beverage director for Harbour hotels, including the Jetty, said: “This award symbolises everything we stand for at the Jetty and Harbour hotels. Sustainability is at the top of our agenda.
“It’s especially timely as we expand the Jetty brand across four new locations where we can showcase our fresh, seasonal and local ethos.”
