A BOURNEMOUTH blogger has won a highly-coveted magazine award for her beauty and lifestyle videos.

Brogan Tate posts regular video blogs (‘vlogs') about her beauty must-haves, makeup tutorials and skincare tips.

Now in her fifth year of blogging, Brogan has won Best Beauty Blog, as well as Highly Commended Best Vlog, at the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards. The 21-year-old was overwhelmed by her achievement.

She said: “It’s an absolute honour. I cried when I won because it made me realise how much it meant to me. I’m so passionate about my blog. I spend every minute of the day planning my videos.”

Brogan began her blog while she was at college and running it has since become her part-time job alongside her work as an office administrator.

“It’s the best hobby in the world, but I’d like to make it my full-time job in the future,” she said.

“I started it when I was studying at home a lot. While procrastinating, I came across a beauty community online. I soon realised I love makeup and skincare, so I started blogging about it.”

Brogan’s blog now attracts between 10-15,000 views a month and has over 26,000 subscribers. She said she only reviews products she would buy herself and is a fan of natural skincare and new beauty technology, such as electric cleansing brushes.

But it’s not only Brogan’s expertise that has brought her blog popularity; her charming and chatty nature has also fetched her a loyal following of viewers.

“I’m just a normal girl with a normal life, and I bring my viewers along with that journey. I talk about anything that goes on in my day and young people are interested in that and relate to me.

“It’s a bit strange for people who don’t understand it,” she added.

When asked her advice for potential bloggers, she added: “Be honest, real – be yourself. Your voice and opinion are really valuable. Being transparent is very important.

“Also, use social media to communicate with other bloggers and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The blogging community is so friendly, and I’ve made some amazing friendships through it.”
