Work to replace street lights along the Wessex Way will continue to the end of the week.
Delays built up yesterday as council contractors working on Bournemouth's LED street light programme coned off one lane of the dual carriageway atSt Paul's.
The work is set to continue, moving along the Wessex Way, until the end of the week, a council spokesman confirmed.
SSE Enterprise is carrying out the work between 9.30am-3.30pm, in a bid to minimise traffic delays.
On the LED lighting project as a whole, Cllr Michael Filer - portfolio holder for transport at Bournemouth Borough Council - said: “The new streetlights look marvellous and are helping us to build a better Bournemouth by reducing the council’s energy bills and carbon emissions.
"Not only is there less light pollution the light streamed is brighter, crisper and much more attractive."
Once changed over to LED lighting the council hopes to save around 73 per cent a year on its annual £1.1m energy costs.
