A TRADER will not face charges after he threatened to take action over boy racers.

Boscombe trader Steve Kemp said he would put tin tacks down in the Sovereign Centre car park because he claims police, car park owners Britannia Parking and the council have all failed to take action against boy racers skidding around in the evenings.

Mr Kemp who runs Dazzle in the Royal Arcade, Boscombe, says he spent two-and-a-half hours in the police station making a statement but has since learnt that a charge of intent to commit criminal damage has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

He has been told that the charge will remain on file.

He said: "I am very annoyed. People are committing offences and still doing what they were doing in the first place. That's what drove me to it.

"And they still haven't done anything. It's a stupid use of tax payers' money".

Inspector Mark Kelly of Boscombe Police said: "He threatened to throw tin tacks down which would have damaged the tyres of not only the boy racers but everybody else's using the Sovereign Centre car park.

"We have found no evidence to corroborate what he says.

"We do as much as we can to stop illegal drivers but we can't stop everything - it's impossible," he added.

"In a democratic society we have to live within rules."
