RANGERS at an East Dorset country park have warned visitors after fishing line was strung across a cycle path.

Officials at Moors Valley Country Park have called in police following the incident, reported to staff on Thursday.

It is believed that at least 15 strands of fishing line had been stretched between two trees across the pathway.

A cyclist who saw the line but was unable to brake in time suffered small cuts as a result.

A ranger confirmed that the incident had been formally reported to the police, and said pathways are to be monitored in the coming weeks.

She added: "We are grateful to all visitors who report any such incidents to us so that we can act as swiftly as possible.

"We sincerely hope this was a one-off incident but we take very seriously any malicious behaviour such as this and will continue to work with the police on this matter."
