A LORRY carrying tyres overturned on the M27 after its own tyre blew out.

Traffic is now queuing on the westbound after the lorry overturned just before Rownham Services before junction three to Southampton.

The inside lane one is currently blocked while the vehicle is recovered from the scene.

One person was taken to Southampton General Hospital by South Central Ambulance Service. The extent of their injuries is not known.

The vehicle has been left lying on its side following the accident that happened at around 2.20pm this afternoon.

Witnesses say the lorry is on its side with its windscreen smashed with traffic backing up as far as Eastleigh.

A spokesman from Hampshire Police said traffic was moving.
