SIX Brockenhurst College students from the same A Level physics class have received conditional offers to study at Oxford or Cambridge.

Anna Lawes, Seb Millar, Toby Henley-Smith, Burtie Spry, Henry Trunley and Jamie Shaw were given the good news following a rigorous selection process.

This is the first time six students from a single class at Brockenhurst College have achieved the distinction.

Three international students have also been offered Oxbridge places. Xin Kang has an unconditional offer from Cambridge, whilst Joshua Reiners and Mi Trinh have received conditional offers.

Burtie Spry, who has an offer to study physics at Oxford, said: “I’m so excited to receive my offer from Oxford and can’t wait to start in the autumn.

“I was part of the College’s Fast Track scheme that stretched me to excel to my full potential.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Brock and the quality of teaching has been second to none.”

Physics lecturer Alex Crutchley commented: “All 21 students in my Fast Track Physics group have worked really hard. I am so proud that more than a quarter of them now have conditional offers for Oxford or Cambridge University.”

Principal Di Roberts CBE added: “We are absolutely delighted for the students who have been offered places from such prestigious universities.

“Each year a number of our students receive offers from top institutions, but to have so many from one class really is something special.”

Brockenhurst College runs a Gifted and Talented programme for students who have achieved seven or more A/A* GCSE grades.

The programme encourages students to develop additional skills to prepare them for the extremely competitive environ-ment of higher education in the UK.

Under the scheme, students benefit from early career discussions and visits to Oxford and Cambridge, along with individual and group support, workshops and subject-specific mock interviews.
