IT is unlikely to have been a comfortable week at Dorset County Council.
Leader, Cllr Spencer Flower, was charged with criminal offences.
He decided not to step down while he fights to clear his name. Instead he will remain as leader but “step aside” while his deputy carries out his duties.
This arrangement can last only six weeks and it’s not obvious what will have changed at the end of that period.
As Cllr Janet Dover has already pointed out, the damage to Dorset’s reputation will continue while these political issues remain unresolved. It’s an unsatisfactory state of affairs.
