HE’S raised thousands of pounds for charity through his Music 4 Meningitis concerts which earned him a place on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list this year.

Now talented musician Adam Tuffrey, 19, is hitting all the right notes, along with fellow performer James Stead, with his two-man band The Dual.

Adam and James first worked together on the hugely successful Music 4 Meningitis events in Bournemouth, selling out both the BIC and Pavilion Theatre in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

They began writing together in June 2013, completing their debut album in just three months.

Adam’s chosen track is called ‘Today is our Day’ taken from their debut album, ‘Let Yourself Go’ and is our Daily Echo and O2 Academy Unsigned song of the week which you can listen to at bournemouthecho.co.uk/unsigned

Adam explains: “It’s a feel good, pop song – it talks about living for the moment, living each day as if it was the most important. It was the first song that James and I wrote and it was the song that inspired us to keep writing together.”

The Dual formed in early 2013, with an inaugural performance to a crowd of more than 2500 people at the Pier Approach, where they were backed by their own 15-piece big band and dancing girls.

And tonight they are back performing on that very same stage for free.

Adam explains: “After working together during Music 4 Meningitis, James and I decided to write some songs and see how things went.

“We quickly finished our first album and realised that there is a market for our type of feel good music.”

Adam adds: “We are excited to perform together more this year and hope that bigger opportunities are just around the corner.”

Earlier this year Adam was awarded a British Empire Medal, for his work as a young ambassador of the Meningitis Trust and for services to meningitis awareness.

The Dual is an original Bournemouth-based band with a soul pop rock feel who belt out uplifting ballads, feel-good catchy tunes and songs to jump to around to.

You can see them in action at Pier Approach from 8-10pm tonight where they'll be joined by a big band, backing dancers and other guest vocalists! Fireworks will immediately follow their performance.
