A SERIES of free festive events are being held in Boscombe in the lead up to Christmas.

For the Great Exhibition of the Countdown to Christmas there will be themed entertainment across four weekends with dance groups, musicians, and a final parade led by a Chinese dragon.

Alun Williams, from the Coastal Business Improvement District, which is behind the events, said they will complement the shops.

He said: This additional Christmas entertainment will provide an extra attraction to create a wonderful seasonal atmosphere. It’s great to see so many local businesses getting in the festive spirit to support this activity with promotions and offers.”

On Saturdays there will be free arts workshops run by the Creative Kids group for children to create displays which will used in the procession on the last weekend of the events. Among the local performers involved are the urban dance crew Rockit Dance, harpist Harp Nouveau and vintage duo Scarlett Swing.

On Saturday, December 21 the Winter Solstice Parade will leave the precinct at 5pm and head to Boscombe Pier. It will be led by a Chinese dragon.

At the seafront there will be a live band and a firework display by Bournemouth Tourism at 6pm. with Mulled wine and hot chocolate available.

Events

THE events will run from 11am to 3pm at the Royal Arcade Saturday November 30 and Sunday, December 1: Magic and Illusion Pop up magicians, illusionists and jugglers plus an arts fair.

December 7 and 8: Music Vintage Music performers. Harp Nouveau (Harpist) and Scarlett Swing (Vintage/Retro duo) Boscombe Vintage Market with live bands, drumming circles and dance troupes.

December 14 and 15: History Free one hour guided tours of Boscombe, showcasing its Victorian heritage Poetry, storytelling & spoken word with photography and art exhibitions.

December 21 and 22: Boscombe Vintage Market – Royal Parade Choirs, street artists and dance act. Parade at 5pm on Satu
