CHAMBERMAIDS will swap bed sheets for bin bags when they help at a litter-pick this weekend.

Staff at the Savoy Hotel are joining the West Cliff Green Residents’ Association in Bournemouth on Saturday to clean up the beauty spot in their own time.

John Taylor, manager at the Savoy, is vice-chairman of the association and said it was a “great” gesture” by his staff.

He said: “We thought it would be fun for the housekeeping girls and waiters and waitresses to go down.

“It also brings the business and community together.”

The residents’ association and any volunteers can meet at the shelter on the green at 10.30am and begin the clear-up with re-seeding of the patches which were damaged by barbecues over the summer.

Chris Colledge, chairman of the association, said: “I do not think there would be many communities that would get out there repairing burnt areas of a green caused by barbecues.

“As part of our contribution to the care of West Cliff Green we are going to repair those burnt patches in the grass caused by people using the disposable barbecues.”

If you can help with equipment call Chris on 07901 686237 or simply turn up on Saturday armed with a fork or spade.
