POOLE Pottery artist Tony Morris has been reunited with a work of art he completed in the mid-1960s.
The flared bowl was painted by Tony around 1966 and features one of his ‘town plan’ designs.
He was reunited with the bowl at Cottees auction house, Wareham, before it goes under the hammer as part of a wider Poole Pottery sale on November 16.
Tony said: “These dishes and plates are quite rare as I did not paint that many at the time.
“Guy Sydenham would throw the pots and plates and I would decorate them in vivid abstract designs.”
The bowl features abstract images of Poole town, from the time it was being transformed in the 1960s.
He often included images of the tower blocks behind Poole Pottery, the Dolphin Centre and Barclays House, as well as new road layouts of the era.
This particular bowl has been entered in the November sale by a London vendor whose mother purchased it new from a Bournemouth department store in the 1960s.
Cottees’ specialist Poole Pottery auction includes more than 300 pieces.
Viewing is available on November 15 and on the morning of the auction from 8.30am.
