A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to Poole Hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car this afternoon.
Police and the ambulance service were called to the incident outside Shaftesbury Court at 2.18pm after a silver Mazda RX8 car and a black Honda CBR600 motorbike collided.
The male rider is said to have leg injuries, but his condition was not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
Sergeant Mark Scammell said: "The female driver of the silver Mazda was unhurt but the male motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries."
There are road closures in place while the vehicles are recovered and traffic is being diverted along Meyrick Park Crescent.
Nick Gilbert, 54, said: "The bike looks pretty smashed up, hopefully the injuries were not too serious."
