A RESIDENT has complained to Bournemouth Football Association about the “revolting” state of the pitches and extreme littering during matches at Muscliff Park.

David Beach from Claremont Avenue discovered the “disgusting” litter which mainly consisted of water bottles, orange peel and plastic bags whilst walking his dog on Sunday October 20.

He has raised the issue with Bournemouth council and complained to the Bournemouth Divisional Football Association, urging them to take action.

David said: “This is not the first time I and other members of the public have had to put up with this revolting sight and I am very surprised that it was apparently ignored by everyone playing, officiating and watching the matches. “This level of ignorance is beyond my level of reasoning. It’s embarrassing and it needs to be controlled.

Bournemouth Football Association has confirmed that two matches were taking place on October 20, with St Albans playing Talbot Rangers and Muscliff playing New Inn Sports.

Commercial Manager of the Bournemouth Divisional Football Association Daren Hills said: “We do tell clubs on a regular basis that it is their responsibility to clean up after themselves. It’s just commonsense to clean up after the match, but we do regulate as well. After this complaint we will reiterate the message to all the teams and make sure they clean up after themselves.”

Andy McDonald, Parks Manager said: “We take the issue of littering very seriously and actively liaise with the Bournemouth Football Association to identify those repeat offenders, imposing joint sanctions where necessary. In the meantime we will monitor the situation and continue to regularly empty the litter bins and clean the area.”
