FEW of us would particularly welcome a team of inspectors coming into our place of work and going through our procedures, records and work with a fine tooth comb. So it’s unlikely that staff and management at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital have been much looking forward to the Care Quality Commission inspection that started yesterday, especially as the CQC had flagged some serious concerns earlier this year. But if Mid Staffs shows us anything, it is the clear need for more openness, honesty and transparency and less secrecy and defensive posturing in our hospitals.
