THE widow of a special forces marine who died in Afghanistan is organising a James Bond-themed fundraising ball.

AFC Bournemouth’s Goldsands Stadium will host a Casino Royale Charity Ball on Saturday, July 27.

Tickets cost £30 or £270 for a table of 10 and include a buffet and complimentary drink. The dress code is James Bond style.

All proceeds will go towards the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and doors open at 7.30 pm. The event is being organised by mother-of-two Emylie Jennings whose husband Captain Tom Jennings was killed in Afghanistan in 2011.

Next month Emylie and 12 friends will be trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for the worthy cause.

She said: “I want to thank the Trust Fund for the support they gave me and aim to help other families who may suffer similar circumstances.”

Captain Jennings, 29, died just before Christmas 2011 south of Kabul.

He was a member of the Special Boat Service based in Hamworthy and was described by his old school in Coventry as “a star of his time”.

He excelled at academic subjects and sports and went on to study Marine Biology at Swansea University.

He had served with the Royal Marines in 2006 and was the highest-ranking member of the corps to die in Afghanistan.
