DRIVERS faced long delays on the A338 southbound after a car caught fire near the Blackwater junction.

Police said both carriageways were reopen and clear just after 4pm.

Police and fire services were called and all traffic was stopped in both directions as the fire service dealt with the flames.

The white Honda Civic, owned by a man from Solihull in the West Midlands, was on the southbound carriageway with smoke blowing across both lanes.

Traffic was very heavy coming into Bournemouth, with tailbacks to Ashley Heath.
