A POOLE school has gained national recognition as being one of the best in the country at student progress at GCSE.

Parkstone Grammar is in the top 20 per cent of schools in England for progress made by students between Key Stage 2 results at primary school and GCSE results at 16, according to the Schools Network (SSAT).

Headteacher Mrs Tracy Harris said: “We are thrilled and delighted by this national recognition of the hard work and dedication of staff and students at Parkstone.”

Congratulating the school, Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT, said: “It is one of the best schools in the country in outperforming expectations for its pupils and improving their future prospects.

“There is plenty that other schools could learn from Parkstone Grammar School’s fantastic success.

“These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Parkstone Grammar School and a vindication of their belief in high expectations, good teaching and ambition for young students.”
