IT was almost like a scene from a movie.
But for those involved in yesterday’s bank robbery in Poole it was all too chillingly real.
A raider walked into an HSBC bank in Broadstone, waving a gun and demanding £40,000.
He fled with some cash, while a have-a-go hero, believed to be an off-duty policeman, gave chase.
The robber made his escape, but around half-an-hour later the police activity centred on flats in Commercial Road and that area was cordoned off as armed officers moved in.
An arrest was made but police are still making further inquiries.
It’s very unusual to get such an incident taking place in Dorset, especially during a busy period.
But despite the drama and the closure of Commercial Road, the public carried on their business as normal. Let’s hope the police swiftly conclude the case and charges are brought against the offenders.
