The Bunn Leisure holiday parks have been welcoming people at Selsey for more than 50 years and they know what they are doing.

There are different swimming pools, bars and restaurants on site so that you can go to different places during your stay and keep every day feeling new.

And the night-time entertainment makes for a party atmosphere that helps everyone to relax and enjoy their stay.

When we arrived at the West Sands holiday village we were able to park close to our caravan and straight away our accommodation set us off on the right foot.

It felt huge with lots of space. We had two bedrooms and the front room had a pull-out bed so there was plenty of room for six of us, including our baby son.

We headed straight to the main swimming pool complex and beach. There is a regular swimming pool for adults and a second one with different features.

In that second pool there is a nice shallow section for the toddlers and some great water features so you could sit under the water fountains. There is a slide which was thrilling for all ages and the “lazy river” rapids-type section which floated you round. I also enjoyed relaxing in the sauna and steam room for that extra bit of rejuvenation.

Taking a stroll on the beach afterwards, we could see the great results of the restoration project from 2012. A total of £17m was spent on the coastal defence scheme. Two breakwaters were built and the entire beach recharged with a sand and shingle mix. The whole process began in April with the delivery of Larvic rock from Norway and was completed by the October.

As the beach is right next to the park it would have been such a shame to lose it.

The teenagers loved the huge amusement arcades next to the swimming pool and there was a bright and airy restaurant where we could enjoy lunch and look out on the Solent, the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth visible to our right.

Bunn Leisure has four holiday villages at Selsey and you can use the swimming pools, sports and play areas and entertainment facilities at each.

As well as where we stayed at West Sands there is Warner Farm, the White Horse holiday village and Green Lawns.

We could hop on the free bus or land train – which the children loved – and head to see a band or show wherever we fancied.

On the first night we saw a wacky ultra-violet puppet show in the White Horse Club and still had time to enjoy the Legends of Soul Show at The Viking Bar in Green Lawns.

The singers we saw were all very entertaining with great voices to match.

They had cover bands playing Queen, The Kinks, The Beatles and Diana Ross.

One band we saw – Spice Girlz Aloud – played Girls Aloud for the first half and Spice Girls for the second, enticing all the little girls on to the dance floor.

Next to the beach there is a very good go-kart track which we enjoyed.

There is a funfair which the children loved too with lots of classic rides – the waltzer, dodgems, trampolines and others making for some great seaside holiday fun.

And that was the essence of Bunn Leisure for us, providing relaxation and fun and only a short drive away down the M27.
