Q: Sum up the show Women on the Verge of HRT for us.

A: “It’s about two women who meet up every year to see Daniel O’Donnell in Donegal. For the whole of the first act they’re in their hotel room after the concert and they discuss everything! Life, loves, husbands, when they were 16, hot flushes, everything. I play Anna, who has the catchphrase: ‘Like I say Vera, you put up or shut up’. That’s my philosophy on life. The other character is more ‘I’m not going quietly’. In the second half we go out to see the sun coming up and in a rather magical, mystical Irish way they kind of conjure up the people they want to talk to.”

Q: How are you enjoying starring alongside Louise Jameson?

A: “Oh very much. It’s my first time working with her, which I’m surprised at. We’re kind of contemporaries in terms of some of the TV stuff we’ve done so there’s lots of people we know in common and it feels like we’ve worked with each other before!”

Q: Are men invited to see the show?

“Yes, but we don’t get many. We find it’s mainly women of all ages.”

Q: Who is your Daniel O’Donnell?

A: “I can’t think of his name! That’s a real HRT thing to do. He has dreadlocks but he’s white and he’s a bit folky.”

Q: Which of the women in the play do you identify with most?

A: “Both. They are so honest. As the play goes on, the characters reveal something about themselves that they didn’t even know. That happens to all of us.”
