IT’S the stuff of pure festive fantasy. An enchanting fairytale, with Christmas presents that burst into life, a miraculously growing tree, a winter wonderland of dancing snowflakes and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Such is the enduring popularity The Nutcracker that there are several major productions to choose from across the country.

But if you can’t make it to any of those, the Royal Ballet’s lavish version is being broadcast live to cinemas across the UK next week.

The opening night of The Royal Ballet’s The Nutcracker will be screened live into Regent and around the world on Tuesday 5 December at 7.15pm.

This will be followed by two encore recorded screenings of The Nutcracker at the centre on Thursday, December 7 at 2pm and 7pm.

Performed by Royal Ballet principal Sarah Lamb with her Prince, principal dancer Steven McRae, this exquisite ballet, presented by Darcey Bussell, is definitely not to be missed.

Matched with wonderful designs and world-famous melodies, this production of The Nutcracker has enthralled audiences for over 30 years since its opening in 1984.

It showcases the emerging talent of young dancers from The Royal Ballet School. The stunning costumes, numbering around 600 and dating back to the world-premiere, are re-vitalized for the show.

Tickets £18.50, concessions £16.50, child £10. To book call 01202 499199 or visit regentcentre.co.uk.
