POPULAR comedian and popular TV character will be following the yellow brick road down to the coast this Easter for a family friendly pantomime.

Impressionist Bobby Davro joins Tracy Beaker’s Dani Harmer to give The Wizard of Oz a ‘modern twist’ at the Bournemouth Pavilion from April 2 to 3.

Families will have a chance to take part, singing modern songs throughout, as Dorothy tries to make her way home with her doting dog Toto.

Petite Dani, who clicks together her size three heels, said: “There’s no Over the Rainbow but there is a version thereof. We’ve made the songs a bit more modern so the kids can relate to them. It’s the story we all know and love but with a slight modern twist.”

Comedian Bobby - the Scarecrow in need of a brain - said: “Well they keep asking us back so we must be doing something right. “I get to be a bit anarchic. Wurzel Gummidge was one of my favourite characters so I play the Scarecrow as Wurzel, with all the little other bits thrown in.”

Dani added: “It’s nice doing stuff like this all around the place. I think they should do pantos all year round. It’s really important and it fits in really nicely with Easter and, for some kids, it will be the first time watching something live.”

Speaking of their first performance several years ago, Bobby said: “I think everyone came flooding in to see the movie but now we have done it four times we’re now established as one of the shows where you’re guaranteed to have a good fun afternoon.”

Dani, who also plays Cinderella in Bournemouth Pavilion’s Christmas panto, added: “I’m surprised people (in Bournemouth) aren’t bored of me already. I must’ve been there a billion times!”
