BOURNEMOUTH launched its groundbreaking Good Food For Little People campaign last week, endorsed by celebrity chef, Lesley Waters.

With more families looking to holiday in the UK this year, the campaign positions Bournemouth as the UK’s most family-friendly holiday spot. Some 15 hotels, restaurants and attractions have signed up to the scheme, which aims to educate young palates right from the start.

Local chefs have researched what children and families like to eat on holiday and are determined to make eating fun and to offer children healthier food and continental-style dining.

Campaign members will display the logo on their childrens’ menus.

“Our local chefs are reacting to families demanding healthy food and interesting tastes,” says Mark Smith, director of tourism.

“We believe that the family holiday is the ideal time to educate young palates and the cosmopolitan resort of Bournemouth is the perfect place to offer a continental-style experience.”

Speaking of coffee shops, Del Marco in Bournemouth is settling into its new location in Yelverton Road. Formerly in Hinton Road, Bournemouth, the coffee shop served its last latte in February when it closed down, and it has now found a larger home in its new location. Co-owner and manager, Edward Restelica, owned the previous shop for 10 years with his brother and has vowed to put more emphasis on food but still “serve the best cappuccino in town”.
