IT'S A long standing debate in our house. That meal you have in the middle of the day - is it lunch or dinner?

To me, it's always been lunch. Tea is early evening, dinner if you're eating after 7pm.

To the other half, lunch is dinner and dinner is tea. ("But they're called dinnerladies", is his eternal refrain.)

It may be a northern thing, this aversion to lunch. Or maybe he's right and I'm wrong.

What do you call them?
