AN EVENING of traditional Zimbabwean storytelling, song and dance will liven up rural Dorset.

Anna Mudeka: Kure Kure / Faraway can be enjoyed at Powerstock Hut, Powerstock, on Saturday, October 26 at 7.30pm.

Zimbabwean born, UK based performer Anna Mudeka travels to Dorset this October with her brand new show, featuring traditional African storytelling, song and dance. Kure Kure / Faraway will be performed live in two communities at the end of the month through Artsreach, the county’s touring arts charity.

Reaching back 5000 years to the Bantu migration from the Tanganyika and Baka tribal regions, travel on an inspirational journey to modern-day Zimbabwe, London and Norfolk. Through stories from a childhood in a free Zimbabwe, to the influence of her grandmother and the difficult decision to leave and pursue her dream as an artist in the UK, Anna showcases her traditional skills in this vibrant new show.

Expect haunting vocals, highly accomplished mbira playing, dancing, drumming and multi-media visuals in this magnificent introduction to the beautiful culture of Zimbabwe.
