Love Island winner Dani Dyer has said she will have to “prove herself” in order to carve out a career as an actress because of her reality TV background.

The TV star and daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer won the ITV2 programme last year with partner Jack Fincham, but she has aspirations to make it in the acting world and to be in a “serious drama”.

Dyer told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine: “I’ve had a few auditions since I’ve come out (of the villa) and I want to keep going with it.”

Of Love Island being her main claim to fame, she said: “I think I just have to prove myself a bit more.

“I know the acting world is brutal, especially theatre, but I’d like to be known as more of an actress in five years. That’s what I want to be doing.

“I’d love to be in a serious drama and make people go ‘wow’.”

Dyer said that people will either “love you or hate you”, adding: “But I do want to prove people wrong and there’s no point going into an audition room thinking people might not like me.”

She had small roles in a handful of films before appearing in the reality series, including Vendetta and Run For Your Wife, both starring her father, and crime films We Still Kill The Old Way and Bonded By Blood 2.

Dyer, who was recently part of a group of celebrities who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief, also talked about her romance with Fincham following a brief split at the end of last year.

She said that they are “too young” to think about marriage, and that he is “the sort of boy I’ll always end up with”.

“I hope he’s ‘The One’. I think he is. He brings out the best in me.”
