Britain's very own singer-songwriter, slash Twitter all-star, is back - with a date in Bournemouth to round off his latest UK tour.

James Blunt will be taking to the stage of the BIC's Windsor Hall this evening (Saturday, November 25) to conclude The Afterlove series of shows, showcasing hits from his fifth studio album of the same name.

This is the first tour for the former Lifeguards officer turned singer following his extensive Moon Landing Tour, which saw him perform more 140 shows across the world over the course of twelve months.

But he admits the extensive travelling is not something that bothers him, rather something he takes in his stride.

“I’ve been doing it quite a long time," he says, "I enjoy being on a tour bus and I love what I do.”

Blunt, who previously enjoyed a distinguished career in the Household Cavalry, especially loves heading to the south coast, he previously told Seven Days, with Bournemouth holding rather a special place in his heart.

"I’ve been to Bournemouth many times, the BIC is a regular for me. For me it’s a bit of a home crowd.

"I come from Hampshire – near Andover is where my family are from – so I always have lots of friends and family there."

Blunt's latest album, The Afterlove, was released in March this year, a follow-up to Moon Landing, which reached platinum status in the UK and spent 33 weeks in the UK Top 40 after it was released in 2013.

James worked with a wide range of talent when writing and recording The Afterlove including Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Shannon Saunders), Johnny McDaid (Example, Biffy Clyro), Stephan Moccio (Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd) and MoZella (Miley Cyrus, One Direction).

The latest single from the album is Don't Give Me Those Eyes, for which Blunt recently unveiled a striking new video starring Brazilian Victoria’s Secret model Kamila Hansen, which shows the pair dancing in a neon-drenched nightclub and riding an old school fun fair rollercoaster before cutting to an unexpected twist.

Blunt has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and 12.8 million singles. He’s also amassed more than 625 million views on YouTube and more than 680 millions global streams on streaming platforms.

Off-stage, he is known for creating something of a storm on social media, with cutting put-downs to his Twitter trolls.

Although he has admitted in the past that his record company was not best pleased with some of his responses.

“Labels like to protect people,” he explained. “But what am I going to do? It’s showing people you don’t have to take things seriously.

“I’m playing and 10,000 people will turn up. For the guy who’s giving me abuse, he hasn’t even bothered to come to the venue to see my music and say he doesn’t like it.

“Twitter is an opinion-based platform, but at the same time, people’s opinions shouldn’t count for that much.

“People in their bedrooms writing five words of abuse is not reality. There’s a real world out there.”
