Bournemouth’s prestigious Westover Road has welcomed a new gallery into one of its premier units.

The new gallery is brought to Bournemouth by Westover’s resident entrepreneurs, Michael and Matthew Corica of Michael Matthews Inspired Jewellers.

“I’ve always had a love of art but I wanted to do something different, not just another high street gallery," says Michael.

"When this opportunity presented itself I couldn’t resist.”

Ambassadeur Art has an exclusive group of creatives and artists hand-picked by Michael and the gallery’s creative director, Callie Onslow-Bartlett.

“Having curated a number of traditional galleries it’s been a dream of mine to have the freedom to use a creative space how it should be used – creatively," says Callie.

Ambassadeur Art also works closely with the local community by running workshops, events and supporting local charities with a percentage of sales donated to a different charity each quarter.

The gallery's first charity partnership will be with Bournemouth-based, Amelia’s Rainbow, which supports children in Dorset and the surrounding area who are suffering from terminal, life-limiting and serious chronic illnesses.

Callie and Michael have been working with London sensation Iain Alexander as their premier artist. Award-winning Alexander specialises in bespoke, contemporary portrait art delivered through the medium of paint and mixed medium materials.

His statement pieces include a portrait of President Trump painted on a back drop of ‘Handle with Care’ tape and a rare David Bowie portrait which sits in the private collection of Sir Dylan Jones, Bowie’s biographer.

Other cutting-edge artists joining Alexander in Ambassadeur Art include LA street artist, Plastic Jesus, whose revolutionary work has been featured extensively in UK media, Brazilian Edu Danesi, infamous for his provocative and sensual self-taught style and Lenticular evolutionary, and Derrick Santini from Yorkshire whose notable collectors range from Damien Hurst to Adele.

“We are thrilled to have these original artists on board," says Michael.

"They’ll also be giving workshops and live demonstrations rather than just hanging their art in the gallery.

"The Ambassadeur concept has really been designed to inject the Bournemouth art scene with the explosion of creativity it wants and needs.”
