MORGAN AND WEST

PARLOUR TRICKS

Shipton Gorge Village Hall

DOING the impossible, that is what an audience turns up to see in a magic act and in the case of this dynamic duo, that is exactly what they get.

Rhys Morgan and Robert West, both of them trained scientists, turn their hands to card tricks, vanishing bottles, memory games and a jaw dropping illusion involving swallowing a ton of needles and regurgitating them on a single thread that is just awesome to behold.

Accompanied by gentle classical piano music, this is a double-act with a difference with their Victorian attire and an elegant set, as they perform not only the familiar but some decidedly unusual routines, assisted by members of the audience who are invited to join in the fun.

Intellectually stimulating and superbly civilised, this is no ordinary magic show as they play subtle jokes, tease the audience with witty routines and perform eye-popping tricks that defy explanation.

This is a classy production that gives magic a whole new spectrum in which they test the senses and send you home wondering just how they managed to fool us all so spectacularly well.

Brought to Dorset under the auspices of Artsreach, the village turned out in force to see this mesmerising show which moves to Nether Compton, Broadwindsor, West Stafford, Piddletrenthide, Sixpenny Handley and Melbury Osmund over the next ten days. Be there, you won’t regret it.
