WHO do you look to in these dark, gloomy days when there's an energy crisis on?

How about the Electric Light Orchestra to shine some light on proceedings or the next best thing- Electric-lite, so to speak- top tribute act The ELO Experience?

The seven-piece band from Hull dazzled the audience at the Pavilion on Thursday night with superb musicianship and excellent close harmonies. Most of the old hits were there including Shine a Little Love, Evil Woman, Livin' Thing and Don't Bring Me Down.

I especially enjoyed Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Showdown, Hold On Tight and Last Train to London, which became Last Train to Bournemouth.

The lighting and back screen were used to good effect particularly on the ambitious Diary of Horace Wimp and clap-along Rock and Roll Is King. For good measure, they also played some lesser known tracks such as Latitude 88 North.

And Andy Louis was in top form in the role of frontman Jeff Lynne. Ok, it wasn't the real thing, but at least there were some blue skies on a stormy night - or should I say, Mr Blue Sky.
