BEHOLD, Dorset indie-folk-pop band Beartown Zodiac release their debut EP, Karaoke Bites today.

Written during Wareham frontman David Bird-Hawkins’ travels to 12 countries in 12 months, the EP is released on Woodenhouse Records and can be downloaded at iTunes, Amazon and play.com Beartown Zodiac’s influences include Sparklehorse, Grandaddy, Blur, Super Furry Animals, Eels and Magnetic Fields.

Their uplifting melodies and great harmonies have brought them comparisons to Belle and Sebastian and Noah and the Whale.

The band is Alison Jay (violin), Matt Musial (drums), Tiff Wheaton-Green (bass) and David Bird-Hawkins (singer/songwriter).

Ali is known locally as the organiser behind the successful annual Ceilidh at Leeson House, Langton Matravers.

Matt and Tiff also play in Bournemouth band Not Made In China and have recently started their own independent label and recording studio called The Burrow.

David lives and works in Dorset supporting young adults with Asperger’s syndrome and offering song writing and music advice to young people, most recently as part of PowerPlay a project funded by Poole Council, but also on a freelance basis.
