SATURDAY sees the live final of the Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Awards 2013, hosted at Sixty Million postcards in Bournemouth.

This year the festival organisers are giving breakthrough music acts the chance to win a fantastic prize – the opportunity to perform at this summer’s festival, taking place on July 17-21 at the Larmer tree gardens on the Dorset /Wiltshire border.

Up for grabs is an opportunity to play in the same line-up as artists such as Dexys, Seasick Steve and KT Tunstall, plus four-day festival tickets for all winning musicians.

Bands and musicians have applied in their hundreds by uploading their chosen tracks at the Larmer Tree website, which were then whittled down to six acts in each category – acoustic and electric.

Over 3,000 people took part in a public vote held last week, which has determined the six finalists – Ninebarrow, Willowen, Will McNicol, Kieran & the Iguanas, Jess Vincent and Goan Dogs.

This eclectic bunch, who all hail from Dorset, have gone through to the live final, which will take place this Saturday at Sixty Million Postcards in Bournemouth.

This will be split into band and singer/songwriter categories, with a first prize for each, judged on the night by an esteemed panel including festival founder and music programmer James Shepard and Grammy nominated record producer and The Imagined Village and Afro-Celt Sound System musician Simon Emmerson.
