JOIN the New Hardy Players for an evening of traditional seasonal entertainment in the evocative surroundings of Dorchester's iconic Shire Hall.

Following last year's success, the drama group returns with two productions of Christmas in the Courtroom, a dramatic and musical celebration of Yuletide directed by Tim Laycock.

The show will feature a selection of festive favourites, including both local and well-known Christmas carols, midwinter poetry from Thomas Hardy and William Barnes, plus performances of dramatic scenes from the Mayor of Casterbridge and Under the Greenwood Tree.

This year, the New Hardy Players will be raising money for Dorchester Poverty Action, a charity which offers emergency grants of up to £200 to families and individuals in urgent need. Founded almost three decades ago, the organisation also raises awareness of poverty within the local community.

Performances of Christmas in the Courtroom will take place on Thursday, December 12 and Friday, December 13. Both shows begin at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15, including seasonal refreshments, and can be purchased from www.shirehalldorset.org or by calling 01305 261849.
