SNOW fell on Dorset on Saturday.

Unfortunately it was more like sleet and there wasn't enough of it to go outside and build a snowman.

But that didn't stop reader Alison Forbes, from making sure her little ones got to experience the joys of a snow day in Christchurch.

She sent in this picture of her children's attempts of building a micro-snowman.

Bournemouth Echo:

In the caption she said: "It really did snow in Christchurch today. My children have been waiting for months for a bit of snow, desperate to build a snowman, well, today we achieved it (a micro-snowman). It may not be news worthy but it's big news in my household!"

Other readers also tweeted us their pictures of snow falling in Bournemouth.

Snow was expected to fall in the early hours of this morning, according to the Met Office.

Snow had been forecast for Ringwood between 3am and 6am with Christchurch also set to see snow at 7am and 8am.

Blandford Forum was originally forecast to have snow on Saturday from 5am to 7am but light snow was then predicted for 8pm last night.

Temperatures are set to remain cold over the weekend with highs of just 4C on Saturday.

Sunday will be chilly once again with the wind chill making it feel much colder than the predicted 6C.
